Holidays

Are meant for rest. Rejuvenation. Taking time out to do things you normally wouldn't have a chance to because of work commitments on other days.
Some people think it's a good time to catch up with work. Or plan ahead for office related things. I used to look at holidays that way too, but now I can see just how important it is to take a break from the rat race whenever possible. There's a time and place for everything, after all.
Running a million miles an hour in your job requires a huge sacrifice in some part of one's life, I'm sure. I for one, am not willing to find out what it takes to do that.
Give me walks in the park on sunny mornings with my better half ANYtime. God gave us relationships to nurture, enjoy and cherish over time--not to take advantage of and treat as a leg up to the higher realms of material wealth. People who have such mindsets are sadly missing out on greater treasures here, while they're still alive.
And what can we do for them, when they openly deny the basic need to love?
