Patience in Training

Tuesday, 1 September 2015

There’s not much going on in this video, just Sean untying the knots on a pretty bouquet of flowers. But I would like to think that this is a way for him to learn about patience. To continue working on a task, even if it is a little tricky, until it is complete. To appreciate that the process of getting something done can be just as rewarding as the final outcome.

Modern, urban society seems to idolize constant stimulation, loudness, and speed. I would prefer to expose my children to more mindfulness, solitude and simplicity in their early years, peppered with breaks in routine. I have a feeling that it should help them be better prepared to face life’s ever changing demands in the future.
