Day 12: Make A Shirt For Yourself.

Friday, 8 November 2013

Do all you can with everything you've got.

I worked only with materials that I had on hand - that was the "design brief" I set for myself when preparing for this assignment.

Here's what I started off with. The tank top was my mother's. It's too big for me, so I wanted to make it my own. I quite like the print, and the fabric is comfortably soft and stretchy.

I snipped off the sleeves and took in the sides to make it fit me better.

And with the fabric from the sleeves I fashioned a little wrist corsage-y kind of thing by cutting long strips and sewing them down onto a satin ribbon.

The coolest bit about the wrist corsage is that you can wear it all by yourself without any help, because of the way the knots have been tied.

And here's what I look like wearing the finished shirt. 🙂
