Tired but enormously proud to have been able to contribute a whole lemon cake for tonight’s potluck at my aunt’s. And that the children were well-behaved (in the grand scheme of things). And wishing Han would come over unbidden to give me a long, uninterrupted, all-for-me cuddle.
CURRENTLY ADDICTED TO
Checking my Etsy store to see if anyone’s bought any of my soap.
RECENT MOST FUNNY MOMENT
Reading this entry from a whole hosts of lame jokes on Han’s screen:
Q: Where did George Washington hide his armies?
A: In his sleevies!
FAVOURITE TRAVEL ROUTINE
Hop in my mom’s beat-up Prado, find a radio station that’s playing really singable numbers, and give my lungs a good, tuneful workout. If the kids are with me, I tell them to wave at and say HI to neighbouring drivers — just to see the latter’s reaction.
MOST PRIZED POSSESSION
My engagement ring. It’s a family heirloom, the diamond passed down to Han from his grandmother. Given the circumstances of our marriage, we have added quite a story behind it too.
CURRENT MANTRA TO GET ME THROUGH THE BAD TIMES IN LIFE
“This too, shall pass.”
CURRENTLY INSPIRED BY
Han’s passion for his work. People who are following their hearts and living their dreams. Millie of AZ Gift Baskets. She’s a mom of 4 who’s running a home-based gift basket business. In one of her Tweets she mentioned that she had over 700 gift baskets to prepare for her Chinese New Year orders! PLUS her youngest daughter is 19 months old (same age as Andrea), whom she is still breastfeeding. I love her can-do spirit.
YOUTUBE VIDEO THAT I’VE WATCHED OVER AND OVER AGAIN
MOST ENTERTAINING ONLINE READ WHEN YOU HAVE NOTHING ELSE BETTER TO DO AND NEED A LAUGH
The Oatmeal. I recommend reading the entries, “Why I’d Rather Be Punched In The Testicles Than Call Customer Service” and “How To Tell If Your Cat Is Plotting To Kill You”.
An old schoolmate’s who is currently in the midst of doing her PhD in an Ivy League university. I admire how well she articulates her thoughts, and her humour — but alas, I can’t reveal her blog’s address for privacy issues. (You know who you are. )
BEST RECENT PRESENTS
Brandon thanking me for cooking dinner one night. My three handmade leather journals (okay, so they were ‘gifts’ that I bought for myself.)
MOST EXCITED ABOUT
Our baby boy who’s due to arrive in June. He seems like a feisty, lively little fella as well. It’s gonna be a circus. I’m also interested to see whether childbirth will be any different now that I’m practising yoga fairly regularly.
Tuna potato salad, rice, stewed chinese mushrooms, stir-fried vegetables, fish curry, lemon cake.
Thanks Min Yen for tagging me (and for loving my soap, and for being such a chirpy godma to the kids). I tag Tan Chun Lynn, Grace Tham, Souldoctor, Tricia Yeoh.
