My first post since Brandon's birth. Firstly, thank you Everyone for all your well-wishes, gifts and visits, there's a lot of love out there! We have been inundated with calls and texts--our apologies if yours happened to be one that didn't get answered as we were probably busy with our baby in some way or other.

The most common question I've been getting these days has been, "So what was labour like?". Coming in at a close second is, "Did it hurt?". All I can say is that at the end of the day, when you see/hear your child cry for the first time, all memories of the pain, no matter how recent, is completely erased. Of course there will be the discomfort of the stitches to deal with in the days to follow, and other things like leaky boobs when milk production seriously ramps up, but when you see his face...you can't help but let happiness just wash over you entirely.

Or maybe not happiness, but something purer than that. Sheer joy.

On top of that we're again discovering new facets of ourselves which we possibly never have been aware of. Seeing Han assume the role of a doting father so instinctively was absolutely heart-warming--Brandon gets picked up and talked to at every opportunity, and yet Han also knows that there are limits before that kind of treatment crosses the border between affection and spoiling the child. He delights in every little facial expression, gaze, and hiccup from Brandon.

Perhaps we are exploring a different level of love for the first time. 🙂

Gonna watch over him while he's being sunned now.
