Bye-bye Privacy

Does anyone know of a good confinement lady who’s available at the end of March next year? Would really appreciate it if you could either leave a comment here or call/e-mail me with details.

I never gave this a thought but apparently it’s almost a necessity to hire one to take care of me and the newborn. Her primary duty is to ensure that mother doesn’t get too stressed out with her baby and gets enough rest. She’s to cook all the herbal dishes to help me get back on my feet, teach me how to care for the baby, do the marketing, and mind the baby while I catch up on rest. Sounds luxurious.

I have my reservations, however. Firstly she’ll be living with us for 2 whole months. I won’t have *any* privacy. I’ve heard that some confinement ladies are regimental and really strict with what the mother can and cannot do (but then again that’s what they’re hired for). It’s expensive–I’m told to expect to fork out roughly RM3,000 a month for 2 months. We’ll still have to pay for the marketing she does to get the ingredients of all the good food she’s meant to prepare for me, *and* she’ll be eating it too.

Still, it’s better not to rule it out at this stage. I don’t know the first thing about caring for a baby, after all.

Read up a little… You don’t have to do the whole shebang if you don’t want to. But knowing a little about what to expect can save you guys alot of stress and there’s nothing worse than a stressed out mother trying to juggle everything and breastfeed at the same time. Not like I’ve been through it personally, but I’ve spoken to countless new mums who’d shared their experiences with me and it’s worth a shot. Good luck girlie! Big hugz!

My aunt is currently taking care of some little ones at my place. If you’re interested, I could talk to her or something.
