Our Fairy-Tale Weekend

Tuesday, 5 July 2005

On Thursday night last week, I could barely get my mind to stop organizing and planning and thinking and being excited to the point of not being able to sleep. I was back in my old bedroom at my parents’, spending the night there in preparation for the next morning’s ‘chip san leong’ (fetching of the bride).

It was an odd feeling to be there again. The expected wave of nostalgia didn’t come. Objects around the room obstinately remained as objects, not things which I could hold in my hands and feel a tingle of a memory being transmitted from them. The room was just a shell—there was no real warmth, despite it being familiar.

Perhaps I had too many painful episodes there, which I have subconsciously blocked out so I can get on with my life. But there was no feeling of hurt associated with it either.

Strange.

Anyway… what transpired the next morning and the day after that completely blew me away. To say that the Wedding was magical on all accounts would still be insufficient to justify how happy I feel, even now. I think I’ll blog about it bits, rather than a whole chunk at a time… otherwise I’ll take me weeks to write anything about it! Lots of photos to come.

For the time being, check out [Grace’s](http://a-blog-a-day.blogspot.com/) and [Kotak’s](http://kotakkosong.blogspot.com/2005_07_01_kotakkosong_archive.html#112053015582280163) blogs for pictures and brief write-ups. Thanks guys, you did a great job with the photos!
